Thomas Nelson: Praises Manufacturing in Words, Opposes Manufacturing in Deeds

Barely 24 hours after career politician Thomas Nelson called for higher taxes on manufacturersHarley-Davidson announced it will lay off 225 salaried employees.  This painful evidence of the tough challenges our manufacturers are already facing seems lost on Nelson as he tells voters he supports keeping manufacturers and the good jobs they bring in Wisconsin but then pushes economic policies that would harm both.

Wisconsin manufacturers are already facing tough challenges, but Nelson’s tax plans and regulatory philosophies would make it even harder for them. Only someone who has spent his entire adult life in political office would be so out of touch with our local economy. Northeast Wisconsin is one of the strongest manufacturing economies in the nation, home to Feeco International, Walker Forge, Green Bay Packaging, Belmark and many others, but Thomas Nelson’s record and the policies he advocates would suffocate these large employers and leave hardworking voters in the 8th District jobless.
